Dr. Michael Romanov has worked as a research fellow and scientist in the Genetics Division of the Zoological Society of San Diego since 2005. He received his doctoral degree in biology and genetics from Kharkiv National University, Ukraine. Dr. Romanov has also conducted research as a fellow or scientist at the Poultry Research Institute, Ukraine; the Federal Agricultural Research Centre, Germany; Roslin Institute, Edinburgh, United Kingdom; and Michigan State University.
Dr. Romanov’s primary research centers on avian genetics/genomics and the use of genomic techniques for endangered species conservation applications. His work has contributed to the Chicken Genome Project and the California Condor Genome Project. He is a member of the International Society of Animal Genetics.
