Alan Lieberman

Conservation Program Manager

After earning an undergraduate degree in zoology from San Diego State University in 1972, Alan Lieberman began working for the Zoological Society of San Diego in 1973. Over the years, Mr. Lieberman has had several titles, including curator of birds, curator of reptiles, and, most recently, conservation program manager for Applied Animal Ecology at CRES.

Taking several leaves from the Zoological Society, Alan has worked for the Nature Conservancy-International Program, the Peace Corps Environmental Program in Colombia for a total of six years, and for The Peregrine Fund in Hawaii for six years. Alan is responsible for managing the Hawaii Endangered Bird Conservation Program and the San Clemente Island Loggerhead Shrike Recovery Program, as well as developing projects for the restoration of insular endangered species in the Pacific.
